We’ve officially & well crossed the 2 month mark for being on the road, and we’ve gotta say, we’re pretty exhausted!
Soooo… best way to unwind after days and days of nearly nonstop travel, wilderness camping & no showers? Find a simple motel to hide in. We arrived in South Lake Tahoe on the Fourth of July to watch their firework display which is supposedly the best West of the Mississippi. It was PACKED but a great show right over the water. Very pretty! We pushed through one more night of camping after the firework show out in the El Dorado National Forest, drove back into town early the next day and spent the entire next day and a half sitting inside our little motel in the dark being complete bums. Fortunately, Alyssa & Kyle snapped us out of our bumdom before we became permanent fixtures in the motel 🙂
Kyle & Alyssa are tying the knot today just a handful of miles away from the lake in a beautiful park in Nevada. We had so much fun with the two of them during their engagement session at Historic Valhalla Estate by Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe CA. It was a gorgeous location with awesome bike paths so they could do a little tandem 😉
Sidenote – Another little shout out to the wonderful world of couchsurfing – last Summer Alyssa’s sister Michelle & her friend Nick traveled around the country for 3 months and couchsurfed quite a bit as well. In fact, they couchsurfed with Ben and I! …and that my friends, is how Ben and I were hooked up with this wonderful couple here in Nevada! You might remember Michelle & Nick from a post I wrote that included a bit about them on my old blog here.
Anyway, without further ado… Kyle and Alyssa!
