Aunt Larissa

One month ago my lovely aunt passed away – the 4th, and youngest of my mom’s siblings.  She was only 40.  That means she was young enough that I used to sit on the back of my grandma’s couch when I was little and stare out the front window for hours waiting for the school bus to drop her off so we could play.  She had only found out a year ago that she had cancer and it was already stage 4.  I had hoped to do some family photos for her and my uncle and 3 cousins in April when we’re back on the coast, but you just can’t predict these things.  You can’t predict life.  Here are some photos I took of her and some of the family together during Christmas at my grandma’s.  I’ve always loved holidays with my mom’s side of the family… the fun and crazy aunts and uncles and the dozen younger cousins and it never felt quite right if someone couldn’t make it.  Now there will always be one beautiful smile missing.  <3
