From St. Louis we headed a little farther West into Omaha, NE. I don’t know why I was so set on visiting Omaha, I just knew I really wanted to. Although I am extremely terrified of encountering a tornado, I just wanted to see what the area would be like. I actually really liked it. A lot. I’m not big on overcast skies, but I love a stormy sky. And it was stormy skies the whole time we were there. And windy. And there was a nice chill in the air. I also loved our couchsurfing host’s house, Matt. We drove around a bit downtown, got a car wash and walked around the local artist village called Hot Shops.
I wish we could have spent a little more time in the area, and we actually almost did stay another night, but we were actually lucky to leave when we did since the Missouri river was flooding. A lot of the roads were actually being closed right as we were leaving the area. One time I got off an exit for some gas and the road was closed to get back on due to flash floods. Scarry!
Our rating of Omaha compared to Charlotte. Charlotte being a 0, +3 being definite contender for our new city…
