The day after Christmas, Ben and I drove to Fuquay-Varina for a family portrait session with a big group. All week it was warm and Sunny, and I just knew that with the majority of the universe hoping for a white, or at least cold, Christmas, that they’d all get their wish. Then it rained a few days prior… but come the session date, while it was slightly more chilly than the week before, it was Sunny and beautiful, so I considered ourselves all super lucky!
I knew this would be a great session because it was booked by our friends, Erica & Martin! Erica and I knew each other through The Women’s Center at Appalachian State University where we were both volunteers. We spent many hours lounging around on the couches, chatting in between classes, working desk shifts, and doing lots of discussion and debate during our weekly meetings. Fun times! After college, Erica and Martin got married and moved to Canada. It ALMOST worked out for us to visit them in nearby Detroit when we were up there for our road trip, but unfortunately it did not. So, I was stoked when she contacted us about booking this session for Martin’s family! (btw…Erica is in the purple shirt and Martin is in the awesome black hat… check back tomorrow for a post full of pics of the two of them!)
Seriously?! Does it get any cuter??? 😀
then we moved on to individual family shots and did a little more candid work…
Such an adorable family!
Do you think she’s loved?! 😉
We took this shot towards the end of the session after everyone had plenty of time to warm up to us. I think it shows off their personalities perfectly at their current ages
There is actually 2 more parts to follow this post… after we finished all the big groups we found we still had quite a bit of time left, so we did a bunch of photos with Erica & Martin (posting tomorrow!)… and then Martin’s cousin (who lives at the house/yard we were using to shoot the session, and who is 9 months pregnant), her husband, and their 2 dogs came out and got in on the fun just before the sun set (posting Wednesday!)!
