Here you’ll find lots and lots of images and see shoots more in-depth. I can feel it in the air.  Summertime is almost over.  I’m quite sad about it.  Mostly because I didn’t do half of the things I had on my list to do this Summer.  Each year Summer comes and goes and I’m so busy with weddings and portraits and editing and designing that I barely notice it was here at all.

This was my birthday wish for myself…

My Summertime Goals:
Picnic in the mountains  – NOPE
Swim in a pool (preferably in someone’s backyard) 3 times – NOT ONCE
Host a dinner party – HAVEN’T FOUND THE TIME
Host a backyard party – DITTO
Take a spontaneous photo trip to a new town with Ben and use some of our toy and antique cameras – UMMM…
Take a reading day by the stream at the Botanical Gardens – NOPE
Check out the white water rafting center – NOPE
Go real lazy river tubing in the mountains (please invite me!) – TALKED ABOUT THIS ONE A LOT
Get some ice cream and eat it outside – THIS SHOULD BE EASY
Grow some more potted herbs and veggies – WAITED TO LATE TO START
Go to the farmers market twice a month – DID THIS TWICE!  I CAN ALMOST CHECK IT OFF…
Go strawberry picking – NOPE BUT I WENT BLUEBERRY & BLACKBERRY PICKING SO I’M CHECKING THIS ONE
Go to the beach for longer than an hour
Have a yard sale – DIDN’T PLAN IT WELL THOUGH
Paint something colorful in the backyard – NOPE… I’M SCARED OF OUR BACKYARD… TOO MANY MOSQUITOES
Make fresh lemonade – NOPE
Play softball in park – YES!  IF ONLY IT WAS 15 MINUTES
Play tennis in park – NOPE
Go to a mountain music festival – NOPE
Go swimming in a lake, river, or quarry – SORRY, NOPE

I wonder how many of these I can complete in the next few weeks… I’ll keep you posted.

So, obviously I didn’t do too well on this goal list this Summer.  In the beginning, when the weather first starts warming up, I’m all about getting out there and living!  That’s when these photos were taken with my friend Stephanie.  We just hung out in her backyard in the sunshine with some muscadine wine and some mozzarella & tomatoes and chatted… that’s what Summer is really all about…

next Summer has no choice.  I’ll be jumping in full force whether it wants me or not!  The road trip can’t come soon enough:)

On Lauren’s last official day as my intern we headed out to her part of town for a loveshoot with her and her boyfriend. I think it’s important as a photographer to learn how it feels to be on the other side of the camera getting the direction so that you can really relate to what your subjects are feeling.
