Hello! This blog is like a journal. Here you can scroll for hours and see images from every shoot that we’ve been a part of, as well as a little information about each. Just looking to view certain types of sessions that we’ve photographed, such as families, or engagements? Click on the “What to View” tab above, or use the search bar to find something specific. Here you’ll find lots and lots of images and see shoots more in-depth. If you just want to see our top favorite images, without all the extra stuff, check out our “Website” by clicking the tab above.

I recently had the opportunity to capture a wedding as a second shooter/assistant photographer.  Amber Spratling of Baby Blue Photography asked me to be her sidekick for Daniel & Lindsay’s Concord wedding and since I was free, I jumped on the opportunity!  It’s always fun tagging along as a second shooter because it gives me a little more freedom to try out new things, plus it’s not nearly as much pressure:)  Thanks Amber for inviting me along for the evening!

Lindsay’s bridesmaids were careful to make sure none of the early arriving guests could see Lindsay during their portrait time:)

these two had a nice long lasting kiss…

father/bride, mother/groom dances are always so sweet!

Congrats you two!

Brandon is a military man, so naturally he and Candis were married on base at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC.  This base’s style is so much fun with it’s stucco houses and buildings reminiscent of another country.  In fact, about 370 buildings are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.  (He’s not suppose to smile when in uniform but it’s not his fault… I forced him to do it!)

twin belly dancers performed a traditional egyptian ceremonial dance for the couple… so much fun!!!

Crystal was Photographer for my son’s wedding in Burgaw a few short weeks ago and every now and then I want to see her new pictures. Say, that red, black and white theme going on at the reception is outstanding. Gorgeous vale on the bride! MargaretReplyCancel

bride and groom kissing under the burgaw nc train depot on their wedding day at night

When Beth told me that she and Daniel would tie the knot as well as party at the Burgaw Train Depot, I was really excited, but I must admit I was a little concerned with how well it would photograph, being practically smack dab in the middle of the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.  See, I grew up in Burgaw, and when you see a location your whole life, sometimes it’s hard to see it with fresh, new, inspired eyes.  But, the Depot recently had a HUGE renovation and even more recently opened it’s doors for weddings.  GORGEOUS.  That’s what I have to say about the depot and the wedding.  I knew, halfway through the day, that this one would make it into my top 5… maybe my top 3 favorite weddings that I’ve shot to date.  I think it was a combination of the location, the colors, and the people.  It was such a smooth flowing day (high five for organized, careful planning!)

The inside of the Depot was so pretty, with lots of original pieces incorporated into the remodel, including the gorgeous dark wooden doors that are now hanging in front of the large windows and can slide open to let in the light.

one of my favorite shots of the day!

another favorite shot of the day… the flower girl just started dumping out all her flowers when she got to the front… cuteness.

Don & Lisa were married this month in Weddington, NC and had a gorgeous backyard reception in Marvin, NC.  This couple was so much fun to work with and I’m so glad that I got to be a part of their big day.  They have the best sense of humor and just wanted their guests to be taken care of and have a great time during their celebration.  I wish the two of them the best!

I invited the fabulous Erin O’neil along with me again to be my second shooter and she captured this beautiful smile that Don’s Mother wore all night:)

bride standing on the yellow brick road at the land of oz in beech mountain nc

Sometimes, as wedding or portrait photographers, it is difficult to get out with your camera and just shoot for yourself… for fun.  But it’s so important to do just that!  When the weather turns beautiful, we all become so super busy that we can barely find time to even have a date night once a month, much less take our cameras out once again to photograph something we love or an idea we have or just anything.  And even if we do, finding the time to edit the images or even look at them when we get home is another issue altogether.  I’ve had folders and folders of personal images backed up from 2008 that I just yesterday forced myself to sift through and send an order off to the printer.  Check and check, mark that off my to do list!

I always thought it would be fun to put together a concept style wedding day shoot on the yellow brick road at The Land of Oz on the top of Beech Mountain.  The remains of the old theme park that operated in the 70s has always been so intriguing to me.  It’s in the most random of places, and the fact that the yellow brick road is still there on the very top of the mountain, hidden in the woods, just makes me smile.  The thought of a quirky wedding reception just sounded too fun!  I’m no event stylist, but I had this idea in my head and once I set up the plan to put it together, there was no turning back!  Thanks for all the vendors who put their trust in me and my idea and helped it come to life! And thank you Cindy at The Land of Oz for opening up the park for me before spring so that I could work with the bare winter trees! You’re the best!!!

beech mountain nc wedding photographers picture of bride and groom on yellow brick road

I spent many many hours brainstorming and shopping online and at thrift and antique shops to get all the perfect props.  The weather was amazing and the whole vision turned out even better than I had expected.  I am so excited about these images.  Now I can’t wait until my next idea strikes:)

Many many many thanks to the fabulous Sheri at Bless Your Heart in Blowing Rock, NC for working so hard to make sure there were flowers for the shoot and with less than an hour to pull it off because of crazy disappearing emails! And not just any flowers, but drop dead gorgeous bouquets AND a centerpiece AND boutineers. I seriously don’t know how you do it! You’re just the best I’ve ever met… truly a natural!

I feel so lucky to know such talented wedding vendors in the state! And to top it off… Heather is a retired model so she is actually the one wearing the wedding dress!
