In Portland I often have to shoot in the rain. It doesn’t really bother me, but coming from NC where a little rain means frizzy hair and pneumonia, I’m always surprised when my Portland clients aren’t bothered by it either. It was a super rainy day when I met up with this family at Hoyt Arboretum in NW Portland OR. It actually stopped raining right when we met in the parking lot. It didn’t start raining again until we had walked all the way up the hill. So, we just went for it, and I’m so glad we did. I think a little rain makes the images more true to the pacific Northwest, and sometimes nice sunny photos just get boring 😉 These guys were so much fun to photograph. They were really laid back and all very responsive to my posing. They loved their rainy day portraits as much as I do and ended up getting a big canvas collection for their blank living room walls. Tracy emailed me a photo of it after it was installed and it looked AH-Mazing! I love it when I’m able to provide families with meaningful pieces of portrait art that they can enjoy for years and years.
