I’ve found that I have been taking way more photos with my iPhone than my Nikon because it’s just so convenient, but I’m trying to fix that now that we’ve gotten a little more use to the road trip routine! The first few days I didn’t think we were going to make it, but we seem to have worked out the kinks of living in constant close quarters with each other haha 😉
Remember, to see regular updates (mostly iPhone photos) visit our tumblr blog by clicking here… http://www.crystalgenes.tumblr.com I’m going to try to save most of the Nikon images for weekly posts here!
Our first stop was Richmond, VA. We got into town really late, but had a great couchsurfing host, Ira, who is a graphic design student at the University there. If you don’t know about couchsurfing.org, you must check it out! Ben and I have been using it for several years now and have had nothing but positive experiences!
Richmond was very appealing to me visually. The houses and buildings were very pretty in my opinion, and I loved how their downtown was spread out far and wide, but wasn’t full of skyscrapers. It seemed to have a pretty decent scene, but at the same time something about it just wasn’t quite right for me to put it in the list of contenders for our dream city. Since it was Sunday, not much was going on, so we drove around for a long while not taking photos and just looking out the window.
While we were driving around, Ben got really excited when we passed Lombardy Street. One of his favorite bands, Avail, are from Richmond and have a song named after the street, so of course we had to park and walk the length of it 🙂
Our rating of Richmond compared to Charlotte. Charlotte being a 0, +3 being definite contender for our new city…
