Road Trip 2011 – Fremont Summer Solstice Parade 2011 – Seattle, WA – Day 51

When I found out we would be in Seattle for the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade, I was really excited!  Ever since I saw a special on television about the parade, which kicks off with hundreds of people riding bikes wearing only body paint, I’ve thought it would be interesting to attend.  It was!  Beware, although painted, there is nudity below!

Our first experience with was through Eric Smiley, who is actually the couchsurfing ambassador for Seattle.  In 2007, he opened his apartment for us to crash there for several days while we were visiting the area and his awesome welcoming and trusting hospitality is probably the reason we are still participating in couchsurfing today!  Anyway… of course we stayed with him again this time through the city… he’s one of the bikers below covered in flowers…

These kids walking on these super tall stilts were both mine and Ben’s favorite act aside from the bikers 🙂
