Road Trip 2011 – Great Sand Dunes National Park Colorado – Day 89

On the way we stopped at a little thrift shop and found some records we just had to have.  Only a couple weeks left, so we decided to deal with having them taking up room in the car.  They were super cheap so deemed worthwhile.

Sand dunes!!!

We found a sled!!!

Now to climb…

Hiking up this steep hill of sand is no where as easy as this next picture looks.  In fact, it was so hard that I only went up about half way before sledding down and refused to go up again, no matter how much fun the sledding part was.  Ben’s a trooper though.  He went twice.

This was a really random temple in the middle of no where New Mexico.  Sort of creepy, especially with the hurricane winds and lighting in the distance.

And then we finally made it to our couchsurfing host’s house in Santa Fe.  He lived right off Canyon Road, the main gallery road in Santa Fe, in a super cute little house in the traditional New Mexico style.  It was a full house, with 3 German guys who were also couchsurfing during their cross country adventure crashing on the floor.  Fun times!

  • Emily Heizer Photography - Those sand dunes are awesome! Have any of my comments posted? I’ve been posting on all these travel posts but there’s no confirmation they posted, they don’t show and it doesn’t say they are being moderated… I’ve been asking a ton of questions… So bummed if they are gone if there’s something wrong with the server… 🙁ReplyCancel
