Road Trip 2011 – Grout Pond, Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont – Day 23

Our next stop was Vermont, specifially Green Mountain National Forest.  In National Forests, generally you can camp for free, and often there are many campsites set up along the roads.  We were excited to finally be camping in a tent!  Ben found a nice little camping area online called Grout Pond, so we headed straight for it, although we did pass many scenic camping spots right along the river on the side of the long dirt road that runs through the forest.  It was a gorgeous place, and Grout Pond was especially scenic.  Unfortunately it was cold… and wet… and misty… so instead, we found a nice large and empty parking lot hidden away from the main road and slept in the car again!  So much for camping!  At least we were warm and cozy in the car… it’s actually a very nice and comfortable set up 🙂
