Road Trip 2011 – Oregon Caves National Monument to Redwood National Park – Day 61

After waking up in the scenic rest area, we headed to Cave Junction and decided to take a tour of the Oregon Caves National Monument.  We’ve stopped by several caves and caverns on this trip, but had skipped on touring all the previous ones. It was pretty interesting, but even though I put on twice as many layers (including a jacket and a coat and a hat), my feet were still numb from the wet cold once we were out.

Thankfully the pouring rain had let up by the time our tour was over and we took the longer, scenic route back to the visitor’s center.

Oh yea, before we got to the caves, we stopped at Burl Wood’s shop… a huge area/museum/work space/studio/shop/etc where a guy there creates all sorts of things out of burl wood.  It was pretty interesting..

We drove through some Redwoods, into California, and stopped in Crescent City to try to catch the sunset over the ocean, but this was all we could see…
