Back in 2007 I think it was, Laura Manzare and I planned to go to Las Vegas to WPPI. It was our first visit to the photography conference and both of us were just getting serious about photography so we wanted the best experience we could get. We heard it was a good experience to find a roommate from the WPPI website, so we did. Laura Meyer and Christina Wehbe, both of Chicago, would be sharing a room with us. Laura Manzare mentioned that we should rent a car and drive to the Grand Canyon before the conference started. We asked the other girls to join, and while Christina wouldn’t be flying in until later, Laura Meyer was more than happy to come along on the adventure! So, we did. We rented a Mustang and headed out on a spontaneous road trip into the desert via Route 66 in February.
Somewhere along the way, Laura Meyer mentioned wanting to see Winslow Arizona & standing on the corner. So, we did. We also happened upon this awesome hotel, La Posada, which was recommended to us for a delicious breakfast.
I fell in love with it right away. Everything about this hotel made me happy, the quirky artwork by the owner that decorated the walls, the garden areas, the colors, the style. The breakfast. Everything.
And of course a photo with the Take It Easy king himself
It was all awesome and I never forgot it. So, of course this was going to be one big splurge we made on the trip. I wanted to stay at La Posada and eat more breakfasts and walk around the gardens in the Summer and pretend I live here They had done a lot more work to it since 2007 and it was even more beautiful than I remembered. It was such a great splurge and I plan to go back yet again someday.
